A Million And One Kisses.

aaaaaaaaaaaaiii

By Mark Silvestri

That day at the doctor's when I heard you're heart beat,
Was when this story began, as you made my life complete.
That beautiful sound that came from above,
Was brought to this earth on the wings of a dove.
It changed my life forever and that's when I knew,
I had a million and one kisses just for you.

A kiss on mom's tummy before I would sleep,
Is how I got started with this incredible feat.

You knew I was there, I am quite sure of that,
As you always answered me with a kick or a tap.

Nine months and three days is the time that it took,
Then it's off to the hospital for my very first look.
A perfect miracle the doctor said,
As she handed me you and I kissed your head.
I'll love you forever, yes this is true,
I have a million and one kisses just for you.

We brought you home the very next day,
To meet your new family and hear them all say:
Can I hold him, and kiss him? Now pass him to me.
Is it my turn yet? Over here, start with me.

There were so many kisses that day, I lost count,
943 sounds like the proper amount.
There was grandma and grandpa and uncle Paul too,
I even think you were kissed by our dog Roxy, yew!

Those first couple of nights I slept not a wink,
Watching and wondering I started to think.
All the things we would do, all the fun we would have.
There's no greater adventure than a boy with his dad.
Now a million and one kisses may seem difficult to you,
So sit back and listen here's what you must do.
There's 1 on each cheek to start the new day,
Did you sleep well? are you ready to play?

On top of your head, and one on each ear,
Is usually met with a coo and a cheer.

From the tip of your nose to that spot on your neck,
That's a ticklish spot, oh what the heck.

There's one for each hand, now move to the fingers,
There's ten of these, so try not to linger.

Next comes the tummy, now this one can vary
From the tiniest peck to a big ole raspberry.

There's ten little toes at the end of your feet,
Each one very special, the smallest of treats.

Have we run out of kisses? The end must be near.
Not quite yet, as soon you will hear.

There's one when you're happy and one when you're sad
And one to chase away that bad dream you just had.

There's one for that spot should you happen to fall,
And for all your achievements, no matter how small.

Every second that passes, every day, every week,
Is a brand new adventure and always unique. I'll love you forever, yes this is true, Even after one million and two.

So goodnight, sleep tight, here's one on the head,
As you slip off to sleep in your comfortable bed.

Good night, Daddy loves you.
