Darkness.
Did you ever awake in the mid of the night
With nowhere at all the sign of a light?
You try to be quiet as quiet as a mouse
And listen for noises from inside the house.
Your heart starts beating and pounding with fear,
What is that sound you suddenly hear?
All around you is darkness, the blackest of black
The sound that you heard ----- will it be back?
You pull up the blanket to cover your head,
But this makes it worse so you sit up instead.
Your eyes are like saucers as you stare all around,
but still no light in your room can be found.
You start seeing shapes in the back of your mind.
All of them strange and none of them kind.
Your heart's beating faster as you struggle to see,
But still it's as dark as ever could be.
You stretch out before you to shield you from harm,
But you can't see your hand at the end of your arm.
Suddenly, someone opens your door,
And "click" goes the light switch --- darkness no more.
You sigh with relief and are instantly glad,
Yes! oh yes! --- It's only your Dad!
